She just makes me happy!

So I just have to share what I think is one of the cutest stories ever about Kajah (my Granddaughter). This week I am flying up to Sacramento to join Denny who is coming over from Vegas on one of his scouting trips. The real purpose of my trip is to get to spend with Eric, Kisha, Tyler and Kajah!
So last night while trying to survive the weekend heat wave (the air conditioner is on the blink and the earliest someone is coming out is Wednesday morning!) I got a phone call from Kajah. Keep in mind this child is only 9. Her first question was when was I arriving. I told her I was arriving later in the day on Wednesday and then she wanted to confirm what day it currently was (Geez I miss summer vacation and never knowing what day it was because it didn't matter!). I told her it was Sunday and that I would be there soon. She replied with "I wish it was Tuesday already!". I asked if she meant Wednesday because then I would be there - to which she replied "No I mean Tuesday - that way I get to try to go to sleep excited because you will be here the next day!". OMG!!!! I could not love that little girl more! She then went on to discuss the plans she was making for us, apparently we are going to the Jelly Belly Factory. Can't wait to scrapbook that one!
Last but not least she asked how old Papa was (as yesterday was Denny's birthday), after I told her she asked if I could tell Papa something for her "Papa your an old man!". Denny was not as entertained as I was when I relayed her message, go figure!
You never know what she is going to say and I love it!

Turning 5

Well Valen turns 5 next weekend, and I can't believe how fast the time has gone. When I walked in to the house today, he informed me he was no longer a little boy - he is now a man!
Today he had a birthday party for all the kids from his class - I believe Cristin invited 24 kids - 15 showed up! That is a very large group of 4 to 5 year olds! I of course was the official party photographer. And of course Cristin had everything planned out perfectly. The party was scheduled from 2 to 4 - and at 4 on the dot, it was over!. The theme this year was Scooby Doo, Valen's favorite cartoon of the moment. It turned out great considering how hard it was to find anything with Scooby on it. Cristin used the monsters, etc. in the theme, so she made lots of bats to hang, some ghosts and a small graveyard, and she drew a Scooby by hand for "Feed Scooby a Scooby Snack" (pin the tail on the donkey). The kids all had a great time, of course the best part was the pinata - shaped like a bat. It was stuffed with candy and small toys/trinkets and the kids loved it!
By the time Valen was opening gifts he was starting to get tired and feeling slightly overwhelmed. Considering how all the kids were swarming on him trying to help him open his presents he held it together really well, but as soon as everyone left he went right into his room to play by himself and have some down time. Maybe not quite yet a man after all :)
